Powerful Affirmations.
Post 28 in Connie Ragen’s 30 Days Blog Challenge.
In my blog post My Portable Empire I write about how I used affirmations as a part of my recovering from a serious stress attack.
During this process I had an inspirational idea to create a series of Powerful Affirmations audios. Audios with positive powerful affirmations including specially designed music and sounds to speed up the process of reprogramming your mind. Also I did research on brain science, and included binaural beats and technical effects to activate centres in the brain for optimal results.
How to create powerful affirmations?
Here are some guidelines to the creation of effective, powerful affirmations.
- Start with the words I am. These words are very powerful, and the subconscious mind will interpret an affirmation starting with I am as a command.
- Use the present tense. A powerful affirmation should describe what you want as if you already have it.
- State the affirmations in the positive. Affirm what you want, and not what you don’t want. Our unconscious mind do not understand the word no or not. If you say: “ I no longer have sleepless nights”, your mind will hear: “I have sleepless nights”!
- Keep it brief. A powerful affirmation should be brief and precise, so that it’s easy to remember.
- Make it specific. It is more powerful to add details to the affirmations. “I am enjoying driving my new black Mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG” instead of: “I’m driving in my new car”.
- Include an -ing word. An active action verb adds power to the affirmations by creating an image of doing it right now.
- Include dynamic emotion or feeling word. These words should indicate your mood if you already had achieved what you are affirming. Examples: Enjoying, happily, lovingly etc.
- Make the powerful affirmations for yourself. Make the affirmations describe your own behaviour or situation, not others.
- Add this or something better. In my powerful affirmations audios I add this affirmation as the last one: “This or something even better is real for me now!” By doing that you avoid limiting yourself and your mind to “just” achieve what you affirm. (Something better might be waiting for you!)
Remember, powerful affirmations will mostly not work without taking action. More about that in posts to follow!
The guideline list is inspired by Jack Canfield.

I have trouble with the notion of affirmations, because I think they “paint over the rust” of what’s already there, which needs to be expressed and cleared first, but I love the way you approach them, Claus. Very clear and powerful.
