I want to tell you, how I got into working with affirmations.
Three years ago I had a serious stress breakdown. It was so serious, that it almost killed me.
The time that followed was a bit tough. My body felt like a 80 years old, and emotionally I also had a lot to deal with….
In this period of my life I had a lot of time to think about my life, and one day I suddenly realized that most of my life I had spent thinking about and talking about all the things I didn’t like and didn’t want in my life. I had convinced myself, that I surely did know what I wanted in my life but honestly, all I knew whas all that I did NOT want.
I had this picture in my minds eye of me walking on a bridge with water on both sides. To the left the water represented all the things I didn’t like and didn’t want to be a part of my life (but it was!), and to the right the water represented all the things I longed for, and all the things I really, really wanted!
Most of my life I had been looking to the left, only seeing what was there.
This was a moment of aha! I was happy. I knew that the reason why my life was like it was had to do with my focus. I thought that saying what I didn’t want and feeling pitty for myself would bring me to the life of my dreams, but instead I achived the opposite. As they say: “Where your focus is, is what you get!”
So, piece of cake. All I had to do if I wanted changes in my life was to look “to the right” instead. I was so exited about this and felt a change happening on a deep level.
Then, after some weeks, I suddenly realized that I was “looking left” again…!!
This was when I realized the power of habits. As humans we are habitual, and when we do things we are not used to, we often feel uncomfortable, and we are “drawn” back to the old wellknown habit. It doesn’t matter if the old habbit is not appropriate. The fact of making a change feels more uncomfortable than being in the old inappropriate habit.
I realized that to really make changes – and I really wanted these changes – I had to reprogram my mind. I also realized that I had some unconscious beliefs and patterns of thought that prevented me from attracting the things I wanted into my life.
I also realized that a big part of it is pure science. That to create a new habit of thought or/and action, your brain needs to create a new neurological pathway. Not until it is created will the new habitactually become a new habit and feels comfortable. There is only one way of creating new neurological pathways: repetition! You have to do it or think it over and over for a certain period of time.
That’s why I created Powerful Affirmations.
As a tool for reprogramming the subconscious mind, so that what we think and do will support what we want to attract into our lives.

Claus~ I have been there and done that. I looked left for far too long. The exciting part was when I realized that you can’t look too far right, you must be happy to be on the bridge of NOW. Your powerful-affirmations are a joyful part of my daily practice.

Clause, I had the exact same experience regarding stress. I finally figured out that nothing was worth letting certain things bother me to the point that I almost died.
I find it very interesting that I can have resistance to changing my thought patterns.
It feels so great to have positive, energetic thoughts with great expectations. Not sure why it is easy at times and harder at other times.

Hi Mary Ann, thank you for your comment! Yes having resistance against things that is “good” for you, so to speak, is a strange thing. But the power of habits is not to be underestimated!
Absolutely a great idea. I personally pooh-poohed the power of affirmations for the longest time, until, well.. the time came when I needed some dearly AND I came across some exceptionally powerful ones. Cheers for this Claus
