BudURL

There are many URL shortening services available.

Recently I learned about BudURL.com and I think it is a pretty cool service. In many ways it is similar to other URL shrinking services, but it has some great features that makes it different from other services. It’s easy to use, and with a free account you can create & track up to 250 BudURLs. If your needs go beyond this you can pay for different kinds of pro accounts.

One of the coolest things is that you can name your shortened URLs using 4-20 characters.

Screen Capture Software

I love to learn new techie stuff..

I also love to write about it in my blog and share it with you.

I know a woman, Sheila Atwood, who has a great blog, Newbie Lifeline.

Recently, Sheila wrote a great blog post called Screen Capture Software.

It’s a post where you get some tips on two free softwares that can be downloaded for both Mac and PC.
The first software is Skitch, the second is Jing.

With the Screen Capture Software Jing you can :

1. Snap a picture of your screen
2. Record video of onscreen action
3. Share instantly over the web, IM, email.

The Screen Capture Software, Jing even has its own Blog at JingBlog

If you want to read more about the Screeb Capture Software Skitch,
The Blog Herald has a really good post: Skitch: Screenshots Made Easy.

With both softwares you can add things like arrows etc. to the screenshots.
Something I have really missed, making screenshots on my Mac (yes, I am a Mac user!)

Gravatar and Favicon

Does this sound like Greek to you?
It did to me a few months ago!

But now I know what it is, and I want to share it with you. If you have your own website(-s) and/or you like to be active on social online medias, you might find this useful.

What is a Favicon?

A Favicon (short for favorites icon) is also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon and is a small, square icon associated with a particular website or webpage.

If you go to www.musicformotherandchild.com you will see my ”own-made” Favicon just before the URL. It should look like this:

If you go to another website of mine, www.blog-ebooks.com you will see what it looks like when a side doesn’t have a Favicon (making one IS on my list!):

If you want a Favicon on your site, go to:
http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/. Just follow the instructions, and upload it to your site! It’s really easy!

Gravatar, your internet picture!

On Gravatar, users can register an account based on their email address(-es), and upload an avatar(a computer user’s representation of himself/herself or alter ego, mostly as a two-dimensional icon (picture) used on Internet forums and other communities) to be associated) with the account. Gravatar plugins are available for popular blogging software; when the user posts a comment on such a blog that requires an e-mail address, the blogging software checks whether that e-mail address has an associated avatar at Gravatar. If so, the Gravatar is shown along with the comment.

At gravatar.com you can sign up for a Gravatar.com account for free!

On my blog, your gravatar will automatically be shown if you make comments to my posts like this:
